Welcome To Mr. G's Physical Education Class!
Welcome to Physical Education at PS 287!
Hello families and friends! My name is Mr. Guglielmo, and I am the Physical Education & Health Teacher at PS 287. I am dedicated to helping students develop a love for movement, fitness, and overall well-being.
Our Mission
Physical Education is where students learn to be active for a lifetime. In PE, students gain essential knowledge, skills, and fitness levels that contribute to lifelong health and physical activity. We focus on helping students move fluently while developing their personal and social skills through engaging and inclusive activities. Physical Education is an integral part of a well-rounded education, fostering confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
What Students Will Learn
Students will:
-
Demonstrate motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
-
Develop knowledge of movement concepts, principles, and strategies that enhance performance.
-
Assess and maintain physical fitness to improve health and performance.
-
Understand physical fitness concepts, principles, and strategies for lifelong well-being.
-
Utilize psychological and sociological principles to enhance learning and participation in physical activity.
Class Expectations
To create a positive and supportive environment, students are expected to:
-
Prioritize safety at all times.
-
Show courtesy and respect toward teachers, classmates, and school equipment.
-
Practice good sportsmanship—winning is not our goal; learning and having fun are!
-
Participate to the best of their ability with a positive attitude. A note from home is required for non-participation.
-
Follow all game and activity rules as instructed by the teacher.
Stay Active & Healthy!
We encourage students to stay active beyond PE class by participating in extracurricular sports, outdoor play, and family fitness activities. Together, we can build a healthy and active school community!
